Green Monster Smoothie
1 large orange, peeled and segmented
1/2 large banana, broken into chunks
6 large strawberries, sliced
1 cup spinach
1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
1/2 cup 1% milk
6 ice cubes
I used our Bullet as our blender died and we haven't yet replaced it. So, I prepared all of the ingredients, and divided them equally between two bullet cups. I blended each drink, garnished with some orange and strawberry, and served. Easy breezy!
VERDICT:
We enjoyed this smoothie, and I must admit, I think it perked me up more that my usual morning cup of coffee. All the fresh fruit and the spinach, tasted great together. The Bullet did leave som orange chunks in the smoothie which was about the only down side to this challenge!
That sounds good. I may need to try that for my 16-year-old daughter, who will not eat anything green (especially spinach), but she's so picky, I don't know if she would even try this.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog!
My blender died too :( I used my food processor and it worked great but I'd love one of those bullets!! Much better for cleaning up :) I've been seeing a lot of spinach in the fruit smoothies so I have to believe it's great and your looks really good! I'll have to try it.
ReplyDeleteMy husband doubted me when I said I was putting fresh spinach in, but even he liked it :-) And our baby...he LOVED the smoothie! Thanks for stopping by :-)
DeleteLove the green color! I'm one of those coffee in the morning people too, so if you say this pepped you up, I may have to give it a try! YUM!

That looks seriously yummy and I love that it's healthy, to boot! Have to bookmark this page to try it and some of the other ones linked in.
ReplyDeleteThank you Barb! And yes, there are some great ones linked up - they all look so good!
DeleteI am having a hard time picturing how that one would taste, but I want to find out! :) I also looked at a lot of the other smoothies under your post and now have great plans for smoothies! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteLet me know Kimberly if you give it a try. Glad too that you checked out the other posts, there are so many great ideas shared!!
DeleteThat looks wonderful? Any ideas on creating a dairy free version (I have a dairy and egg allergy)?
ReplyDeleteClaire...I'm stumped...I'm not very good at making the substitutions for sensitivities. I would love to hear though if you come up with a dairy free version. I do like to learn!
DeleteClaire - can you do coconut milk? Elise has a great suggestion below!
DeleteSounds delicious! I'll try it with Coconut milk I think...we're doing Vegan for a few weeks this Summer
ReplyDeleteCoconut milk does sound good...I wonder if that would work for Claire above?
DeleteI've gotta say that when I first saw a smoothy recipe with spinach I was prepared for your "verdict" to be eewwwwww! But hearing that it tasted great means I've got to try it. Each one of those individual flavors are things I love, so together they've got to be great! (And I really like the idea of the energy boost!)
ReplyDeleteI was apprehensive about the spinach too, but it pureed up nicely. Hope you like it!
DeleteLooks yummy!
ReplyDeleteAnd all those smoothies linked up... amazing! :)
Thanks Czjai! And such a great variety of smoothies, hey? I'm loving many of them!
DeleteI love smoothies, but one with spinach, not so sure of :)
ReplyDeleteStopping by from VoiceBoks!
Never know until you try ;-) I'll put spinach in again, for sure! I've even been blending it into my baby's foods, figured it would be good for him too!
DeleteThis looks awesome!!! I have totally bookmarked this recipe AND your blog! I love it, I will be back =)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Ryanne!! Welcome :-)
